Using a skip bin – how to get the most out of your investment

Booking a skip bin is a commitment but it helps you to dispose of rubbish in an eco-friendly fashion and it’s surprisingly affordable too.

You naturally want to get the most out of your skip bin so here are a few tips to help you.

  • Place your skip bin close to your rubbish source – this helps you save time and energy
  • Don’t block entrances and exits, you’ll need to access your property easily
  • Don’t place the skip beneath trees or power lines – this can cause issues with delivery as the truck may not be able to lift the bin off the bed of the truck if lines or branches are in the way
  • Lay flat items in the base of the skip before putting any other rubbish inside
  • If you have lighter items which could blow away, pin them down with heavier things
  • Be sure to leave gates open and dogs locked up if you won’t be home

Remember, if you have any questions, please get in touch. Our expert team is always happy to answer your questions.

Is there anything I can’t put in a skip bin?

Yes. We cannot accept the following items amongst a few other things.

  • Asbestos
  • Batteries
  • Paint
  • Oil

If you have asbestos on your property, please visit the NSW Government’s advice page for who to contact regarding its safe removal.

Mattresses are one of those items which people often ask about. It is ok to put mattresses in skip bins but you must take them apart first. That means removing the fabric and springs and putting them inside the skip separately.
