Waste types

Here at Skip Bin Finder, we separate waste types. This is to aid the recycling process. We want to recycle as much as possible because that keeps rubbish out of landfills.

For example, we offer a skip bin which is designed to take general waste – that might include –

Household waste
Clothes, paper, cardboard, bedding, towels, kitchenware, bathroom accessories, duvets, cushions

Light commercial waste
Office furniture such as desks, desk tidies, chairs, and stationery.

Furniture and Appliances
Cupboards, lounges, washing machines, cots, beds, fridges, chairs, sofas

Light building construction waste
Wood, flooring, wallpaper

Light green waste
Shrubs, grass, foliage, leaves, twigs

Households most commonly book general waste skip bins because people tend to build up a lot of mixed-up rubbish.

A mixed waste skip bin, on the other hand, is suitable for waste that comes from domestic commercial demolition, construction or renovation.

Below is a breakdown of all the different waste types we deal with.

Hardfill waste
Bricks, concrete, tiles – all pieces must be no larger than 600×600

Treated timber
Retaining walls, decking, floorboards, fences, sheds

Household waste
Clothes, paper, cardboard, bedding, towels, kitchenware, bathroom accessories, duvets, cushions

Furniture and Appliances
Cupboards, lounges, washing machines, cots, beds, fridges, chairs, sofas

Green waste
Shrubs, foliage, grass clippings, leaves, twigs, bushes, palm trees

Tree trunks
Trunks must be smaller than 300mm in diameter and under 300mm long

Is there anything I can’t put in a skip?

We do not accept asbestos in any skip. Other items we don’t allow include batteries and gas cannisters. Oils and paints are another problem material which cannot be disposed of in a skip bin.

If you have an old mattress, you can put it in a skip but only if you have first taken it apart and removed the springs. Otherwise, you will incur additional charges as someone at the dump will need to take the mattress apart for you.

If you have any questions about waste types or managing what you plan to put in the skip bin, contact the team.

Do I need a permit for a skip bin in Prospect?

Not unless you want to place it on public land such as the road or verge outside your home or business. If you place your skip bin in your garden or on other land you own, no permit is needed.
